The classic Maurice Sendak cautionary tale about a boy who learns to care is now available for the first time as a board book!
For over fifty years, children have cared about Pierre, the little boy who doesn’t care about anything until he meets a lion. And now they can encounter the moral of Pierre as a board book! This new format makes it a perfect choice for children and their grown-up readers to return to again and again.
Maurice Sendak received the 1964 Caldecott Medal for WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE. In 1970 he received the international Hans Christian Andersen Award for Illustration, the only American to receive this honor; in 1983 he received the Laura Ingalls Wilder Award, given by the American Library Association in recognition of his entire body of work; and in 1996 he received a National Medal of Arts in recognition of his contribution to the arts in America. In 2003, Sendak received the first Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award, an international prize for children’s literature established by the Swedish government.
